I'm really interested in Speedpaint, mostly because of the part where the black lineart was semi-disappearing. I've been trying to make some of my works without lines but they come out weird, but I'm learning. I won't lie, I feel like your work is a bit flat, this is because of the background that doesn't contrast well, and it seems like there really is no background, although it's hard to know if it's an attempt to draw the sky or just a simple gradient background, I opt for the first option given what I think are cloud particles in front. Hey, I don't know if you used the mirror tool, but if not, you should try it, that could help you fix things that look good from one perspective but not from another (like her face), but it's really quite interesting and naughty owo. (by the way, the rating... that's M!)

MushcariSloth responds:

To fade the lineart, you can try using a layer mask and gently erase some areas with a textured brush, keeping the opacity around 50–60%.
Another option is to select the lineart layer and paint over certain parts, like the skin, using a dark orange tone to give the lines more warmth and richness.

As for the background, I decided to go with a simple painterly sky. At first, I tried adding buildings, but the result looked too saturated and strained my eyes. Outdoor backgrounds are still something I struggle with a bit.

I’ve used the mirror tool a couple of times, but this time I chose not to rely on it too much. I’ll only use it in very specific cases, when the illustration has highly symmetrical elements.

By the way, thanks for letting me know about the age rating — I hadn’t noticed that detail.

this work is beautiful, and holy... those muscles charlotte...

I don't understand what's going on in your work and the description doesn't help because your writing level is poor, I need context, both of what's happening and what program you're using, footnotes? no idea bro, I use krita not animate, try to be more specific and simplify things in the first instance. Giving you generic animation advice, rough movements aren't good, and the fact that the characters are static until they enter the scene doesn't help, make it look like "THERE WAS SOMETHING before entering the scene", subtle movements, everyday things, I understand that it's a test, so it would be more efficient for me to give criticism and advice when you make a serious and complete attempt.

Tremdour responds:

Oh, sorry about that. I usually type this way to show my personality but I'll still provide you with more context. Also, I'm mostly looking for program related tips, the poor animation was a stylistic choice, since I wanted give a hint for those old choppy animation styles of flash cartoons, like Matt J. Wilson's Bonus Stage. (ill edit the desc out rq) But thanks for the feedback though, general animation feedback is still welcome!

Disclaimer: Im more familiar with frame by frame animation programs than timeline/tween type animation programs. This type of program is something I barely touched and the only time i did was with Procreate Dreams.

Im using Adobe Animate to make this gif. This animation didn't have an initial plan (hence it's odd scene) but later on, I decided that it'll be just a simple scene of Eva (char on the right) sneaking up and scaring Bea (char on the left) by popping out instantaneously in front of her. there are more emphasis on the facial animations and some on the frame by frame elements to experiment more with Animate's classic tweens and frame picker, which were quite fun to use.

It took me about 8 hours in total to finish, probably because i don't utilize a lot of its shortcuts very often and figuring out the timing in each body part of my character rigs (since these body parts are their own symbols, a grouped object with its own timeline.) Symbols are useful for recycling animation by dragging them out from the library or by copy and pasting from another, but when you edit their timeline, they sync up and don't replay your main timeline to get a better idea of how your animation will turn out. (at least from what I've understood).

I still need tips for making puppet rigs more easy to navigate to animate individually from, adding repetitive, natural body actions (like blinking) onto my characters easily, and shortcuts (ON MAC) that could be useful for me, other than making symbols, adding/deleting frames or copying and pasting frames/objects in place. Its ok if you don't have any tips for Adobe Animate though!

I rlly wished my workflow was as fast as this Bedfellows behind the scenes video that demonstrated the swift rotations of the rigs and automatic torso bending for a scene in a wip episode at the time: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U63zmU8qrQI&list=PL2LreFkTVKJdxO5O--DEjGrHGn0RteO0H&index=139
This was animated in flash but im sure Adobe Animate has this in their features still.

It's light years away that it's not what you normally do, and I love it, although I have no idea what the Knights of gui-- that thing are, being subjective the setting here is crazy. firereree
